TV and film director Rollin Augustus “Rod” Daniel III (August 4, 1942 – April 16, 2016) was active in the United States from the late 1970s to the early 2000s. The 1985 Michael J. Fox comedy Teen Wolf was one of his films and was a commercial success.Being the son of a famous doctor, it was assumed that Daniel would go into medicine. While living in his home state of Tennessee after serving in Vietnam, he decided to pursue a career in commercial directing. He eventually made the move to Los Angeles.

The director and producer roles on Hugh Wilson’s comedy WKRP in Cincinnati came about because of their relationship, which launched his career in television. Daniel kept working on series like Magnum, P.I. and Newhart, but after a failed comedy he was involved with, he decided to make the transition to movies.During the 1980s and 1990s, Daniel directed a number of films, including the comedy Like Father Like Son, K-9, The Super, and Beethoven’s 2nd. Furthermore, he kept directing episodes of television sitcoms like Everyone Loves Raymond and Caroline in the City. With the release of Home Alone 4 in late 2002, his last project, he left the film business.
