 Simone Biles was born on 14 March 1997 in Columbus, Ohio to Shanon Biles. Kelvin Clemons was Simone’s father. He was never a part of her life, though, as he battled addictions and abandoned his family. Shanon, Simone’s mother, was also a victim of drug and alcohol addiction. She also played a minor role in her children’s upbringing.

Simone is the third of four siblings; Ashley, Tevin, and Adria are the others. Adria Biles is a gymnast as well. Simone was raised by Ron Biles (Shanon’s grandfather) and his wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles. Nellie is a nurse and a former co-owner of a nursing home chain in the United States of America. Simone’s career as a gymnast began when she attempted gymnastics for the first time at the age of six on a field trip with her day care classmates. She impressed her instructors, who encouraged her to continue gymnastics in the future.She quickly enrolled in a training programme at ‘Bannon’s Gymnastix’ and began working with coach Aimee Boorman.

In 2012, her achievement prompted her to refocus her attention on gymnastics. To accomplish this, she dropped out of public school and began homeschooling, which afforded her approximately two hours of additional training each day.At the 2012 American Classic in Huntsville, Texas, she finished first overall, once again excelling at vault. She also won the US Classic in Chicago, securing her a spot in the National Championship.
