Jan Smithers Bio
Karin Jan Smithers is a former actress from the United States. She became famous for her role as Bailey Quarters on the comedy WKRP in Cincinnati, which aired on CBS from 1978 through 1982. Smithers came to the attention of the general public for the first time as a young adult when she was interviewed and featured on the cover of Newsweek on March 21, 1966, while sitting on the back of a motorbike. As a direct consequence of her appearance, many Hollywood agencies made her offer of representation.
The first marriage for Smithers was to Kipp Whitman, which lasted from 1971 to 1972. She was married to the actor James Brolin from 1986 to 1995, during which time she became the stepmother to his two children from a previous marriage. Together, she and James Brolin had one daughter named Molly Elizabeth. In 1995, Smithers initiated divorce proceedings against Brolin.
